VETEMENTS is a label based between Paris and Düsseldorf that grown by a group of young and passionate designers. Demna Gvasalia, who was newly appointed as the creative director for Balenciaga, is the founder and head designer. Demna Gvasalia and collective members with previous ties to Maison Margiela, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Céline, and Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Arts focus on singular, impactful pieces with immediate appeal rather than thematic seasonal collections. They like breaking rules and traditions of design and leading trends instead of following. They desire to create radical challenges to the fashion world and bring special contemporary styles to their clothing.
The label signifies on sports-inspired casual wear with asymmetrical cuts, twists and attention to detail. It focuses on deconstruction, roughness of surface, raw hems and convertible functions. Some signature design such as oversized trousers and coats, elongated knits and asymmetrical shapes.
